I photographed this 'one-girl' play 'My Name is Rachel Corrie' for my university today. The play was very moving and extremely well acted. You should read up here, [link] about who Rachel Corrie was, and what she did.

The conditions were hard, very dim, there was often coloured light on her face. I've never been embarrassed by have a real shutter noise before, it was a bit awkward taking photos in the silence.

That noisy shutter thing has happened to me, A quiet song, and then my shutter sounding like it's miked! David came backstage and yelled at me, I sat right down on the steps and cried. Yeah, I'm tough!. 35mm SLRs are loud! (except for Leicaflexes, and they sound so gentille, no one minds the noise they make, sort of like a Rolls' engine)

I miss the theater of England. my ex and I have seen productions up and down the island.
Oh, and it's a quiet shot, I would like to see it as part of a sequence eh? Theater shooting is vastly different than concert work though. Much tougher.
This kind of works, but lacks the star quality the bulk of your work has. But that has A LOT to do with subject matter, OK, 98% to do w/ subject matter. not a lot of room for individualism of the part of the photographer.....It is damn near impossible to translate the energy of a play into a photo. (If it's a rowdy play, it's a lot easier, but a "talking head" production can be absolutely riviting in person, and will rarely be anything but flat in 2 dimensions.) (That's my theory, and I'm sticking to it)
But I love your absolute fearlessness in attempting any and all genres of the medium.

(Googles Leicaflex...oo, I want one!)
Yesterday I photographed an acting workshop run by George Dillon (quite big in the theatre world), he was pretty intimidating (i.e. he was very professional, very stern, forthright etc). I was constantly waiting for him to shout at me for clicking away! Luckily he didn't.

This is shot is from a selection of four, see here, [link] for some critique I got! I think I'll be updating this shot, and maybe adding a few others....

I agree it's hard for other people to get the same feeling I do from this shot. I have the context in my head, I know why she's sad, where she is, why she's there.
